HM SEO X-Ray Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 29, 2026

This policy explains how the HM SEO X-Ray Chrome extension (“the extension”), published by Hustle Marketers, handles data. In short: the extension reads only the pages you check and processes them in your browser. Nothing is sent to Hustle Marketers, nothing is sold, and the only thing ever passed to another service is a page address, when you choose to open one of the optional testing tools.

What the extension does

HM SEO X-Ray shows an on-page SEO analysis of the web pages you choose to check, in Chrome’s side panel. It reads a page’s title, meta tags, headings, links, images, structured data and performance timings so it can show you SEO checks and let you copy the results.

Data the extension collects

  • Website content: the text, headings, links, images, meta tags and structured data of the page you check.
  • Page addresses: the address (URL) and title of the page you check, and the URLs you paste in bulk mode.

In the Chrome Web Store privacy form, these are declared as Website content and Web history.

This data is processed only inside your browser to run the checks. It is never sent to Hustle Marketers, and it is not shared with anyone else, except the page address when you click one of the optional testing tool buttons described below. It is not kept after you close the side panel.

Apart from the website content and page addresses above, the extension does not collect personal information, user activity, location, communications, financial, health or authentication data. It does not keep a history of the pages you check. There are no analytics, tracking scripts, ads or accounts.

When the extension runs

  • When you open the side panel or click Analyze, it checks the active tab.
  • While the side panel is open, it re-checks the active tab when you switch tabs or a page finishes loading. You can turn this off in Settings (“Auto-analyze when I switch tabs”).
  • While the side panel is closed, it does not read any page. It only clears its own score badge when a tab loads a new page.

Network requests

  • To complete its checks, the extension requests the page you are checking, that site’s robots.txt and llms.txt files, and the page’s canonical URL.
  • When you click “Check status” on the Links tab, it requests the links found on that page to report broken links and redirects.
  • In bulk mode, it requests the URLs you paste and each of those sites’ robots.txt and llms.txt files.
  • To show image previews, the side panel loads the page’s images from wherever they are hosted.
  • Page, robots.txt, llms.txt, link and bulk requests are sent without your cookies. All of these requests go only to the websites involved. Nothing is sent to Hustle Marketers.

Optional testing tools

The Schema and Speed tabs have buttons that open a public testing tool in a new tab: Google’s Rich Results Test, the Schema.org validator and Google PageSpeed Insights. They open only when you click them, and they receive the address of the page you are checking so they can test it. The two Google tools are covered by the Google Privacy Policy. The Schema.org validator is covered by the privacy terms published on that website.

Data the extension stores

  • Your settings (title and description length limits, thin content threshold, auto-analyze and em dash options) are saved with Chrome’s built-in storage (chrome.storage.sync). If Chrome sync is turned on, Google syncs them across your own Chrome browsers under the Google Privacy Policy.
  • Version 1.1.0 also kept the address of the last page checked in each tab in Chrome’s temporary session storage, so the score badge could be cleared on a new page. This stayed on your device and was deleted when Chrome closed. Version 1.1.1 and later do not store any page addresses.
  • Copies and downloads you make (rows, reports, summaries and CSV files) go to your clipboard or your downloads folder, under your control.

Data retention and deletion

Analysis results are discarded when you close the side panel or check another page. Your settings stay until you click “Reset defaults” in Settings or remove the extension. Removing the extension deletes everything it stored.

Permissions

  • Side panel: to show the report next to the page.
  • Scripting: to read the page you check, and to add temporary coloured outlines to links and images when you click “Highlight on page”. The outlines disappear when you click again, close the on-page legend or reload. The extension never changes the website itself.
  • Storage: to save your settings.
  • Access to websites (http and https): so the checks work on any site you choose to analyse.

Sharing and sale of data

We do not sell or rent any user data. We do not share it either, apart from the page address passed to a testing tool when you choose to open one. We do not use data for advertising, profiling, credit decisions or any purpose unrelated to the extension’s SEO checks.

Children

The extension is a professional SEO tool and is not directed at children.
