Most articles about marketing a BPO still say the same eleven things. Pick a niche, build a website, post on LinkedIn, get listed on Clutch, then send cold emails. We read the pages currently ranking in the United States for the BPO SEO and BPO lead generation terms before writing this. Yet every one of them covers that list. None of them, however, covers the things that actually decide whether an outsourcing company gets shortlisted.
So this guide covers the standard ground quickly. Then it spends most of its length on the parts almost nobody has written about: the NDA problem, compliance pages as ranking assets, data residency, and the page architecture that scales without cannibalising itself.
So if you want to see this on a live account, we published a BPO SEO case study covering an on-page, technical and off-page engagement for a Dubai outsourcing company selling into the United States.
First, Which BPO SEO Did You Mean?
The search results for BPO SEO usually serve two opposite audiences. None of the ranking pages say so. That is worth thirty seconds, though, before you read on.
| If you are… | What you actually want | Where to go |
|---|---|---|
| A BPO, call centre or outsourcing provider looking for more clients | SEO done for your own website, so buyers find you | This guide |
| A company wanting to outsource your SEO work to an offshore team | An SEO vendor or a white label partner | White label digital marketing |
| An in-house marketer at a BPO with a small budget | The practical checklist without the agency pitch | The table stakes checklist near the end of this guide |
The rest of this page therefore assumes the first one. You run the outsourcing company, and so you want buyers to find you. So everything below is about SEO for BPO companies that want more clients, not about buying SEO from one.
What an Outsourcing Buyer Actually Searches For
Start here, because most BPO keyword lists are still built backwards. In reality, buyers rarely type the word BPO. Instead, they search by service, by industry, by compliance requirement or by delivery location.
| Query pattern | Example searches | Who searches it | Page that should answer it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Service plus industry | customer support outsourcing for healthcare, claims processing outsourcing, fintech back office outsourcing | Operations lead | A service page for that industry |
| Compliance filter | HIPAA compliant call center, SOC 2 outsourcing provider, ISO 27001 BPO, PCI DSS contact centre | Information security, legal, procurement | One page per standard you actually hold |
| Delivery model | nearshore customer service, offshore back office, onshore contact centre | Operations and finance | A delivery model explainer |
| Geography | call centre outsourcing Philippines, nearshore outsourcing Colombia | Operations lead | A location capability page |
| Pricing model | BPO pricing models, cost per seat outsourcing, per transaction pricing | Finance | A pricing model explainer |
| Vendor comparison | best call centre outsourcing companies, provider alternatives, X versus Y | Procurement | Comparison and shortlist content |
| when to outsource customer service, in-house versus outsourced cost | Operations lead, early stage | Honest build versus buy content | |
| Broad category label | bpo companies, business process outsourcing companies, bpo services | Mixed. Often students, job seekers and people wanting to start a BPO | Low priority. Frequently not a buyer at all |
The live United States numbers
We pulled the live United States figures for this set rather than guessing at them, since the numbers change the picture. Every number below therefore comes from Semrush, United States database, on 18 September 2026.
| Keyword | US searches per month | Difficulty | CPC (USD) |
|---|---|---|---|
| it outsourcing services | 3,600 | 32 | $107.67 |
| bpo services | 3,600 | 75 | $25.56 |
| call center outsourcing | 2,900 | 33 | $59.59 |
| customer service outsourcing | 2,900 | 33 | $50.51 |
| bpo companies | 1,900 | 19 | $11.45 |
| customer support outsourcing | 1,900 | 32 | $58.20 |
| contact center outsourcing | 1,600 | 38 | $54.91 |
| back office outsourcing | 1,300 | 13 | $15.28 |
| business process outsourcing companies | 1,300 | 34 | $33.85 |
| nearshore outsourcing | 1,300 | 30 | $78.94 |
| call center outsourcing companies | 1,000 | 28 | $55.82 |
| data entry outsourcing | 1,000 | 16 | $23.35 |
| outsourced call center | 1,000 | 35 | $59.59 |
| outsourced customer service | 1,000 | 31 | $50.51 |
| outsourcing companies | 1,000 | 25 | $10.50 |
| finance and accounting outsourcing | 720 | 25 | $27.50 |
| technical support outsourcing | 720 | 15 | not reported |
| hipaa compliant call center | 210 | 4 | $80.88 |
| offshore outsourcing companies | 140 | 13 | $32.86 |
| when to outsource customer service | Below reporting threshold | 10 | not reported |
What those numbers actually say
Two things stand out immediately, though. First, hipaa compliant call center carries a keyword difficulty of just 4 against a cost per click of $80.88. That is the softest and most valuable term in the whole set, and it is a compliance page rather than a service page. Second, bpo services sits at a difficulty of 75, so the broad label is both the hardest thing to rank for and the least specific.
The broad labels are not worthless, though. Semrush marks bpo companies as commercial, at a difficulty of only 19. What it lacks is money, because the cost per click is $11.45. Advertisers pay roughly nine times more for it outsourcing services at $107.67, and seven times more for hipaa compliant call center. That gap is the clearest signal of where the buyers actually sit.
That is fine, because outsourcing deals are large and rare. So a page bringing ten qualified visits a month can outperform one bringing a thousand. In this niche, relevance beats volume every time.
Why BPO SEO Is Not Ordinary B2B SEO
You are selling to a committee, not a person
An outsourcing contract is usually championed by an operations head. Then information security vets it. Finance prices it too. Finally, procurement signs it. That is four people, four vocabularies and four sets of blocking questions. So one service page cannot answer all four, and a keyword list organised by service line will miss three of them.
Buyers arrive already suspicious
Offshore delivery usually carries objections about quality, attrition, accents, data handling and time zones. So your content either answers those before the enquiry, or the enquiry never comes.
Your proof is contractually restricted
This is the one constraint that, so far, nobody writes about. We deal with it in full further down, though.
Map Content to the BPO Buying Process
The competing articles we reviewed usually call this a long B2B sales cycle and move on. So here is the actual process, and what each stage needs from your website.
| Stage | Who is searching | What they search | What you need published |
|---|---|---|---|
| Operations lead, CX director | cost to run an in-house support team, when to outsource customer service | Honest build versus buy content, including when not to outsource | |
| Category research | Operations lead | nearshore versus offshore, BPO pricing models, seat leasing explained | Delivery model and pricing model explainers |
| Vendor discovery | Ops plus procurement | best HIPAA compliant call center, fintech customer support outsourcing Philippines | Service by industry by geography pages, directory and analyst listings |
| RFI and RFP | Procurement | vendor plus RFP, vendor plus reviews, vendor plus alternatives | Brand SERP control, comparison pages, a public capability statement |
| Security review | InfoSec, legal, DPO | vendor plus SOC 2, vendor plus ISO 27001, data residency | Compliance and security pages that are indexable, not gated PDFs |
| Shortlist and reference | Buying committee | vendor plus case study, vendor plus attrition, vendor plus Glassdoor | Case studies, third-party reviews, published operational metrics |
| Transition | Ops plus PMO | BPO transition plan, knowledge transfer protocol | A published 30/60/90 ramp methodology |
Now look at the security review row. That stage, after all, kills more deals than price does. Yet almost no outsourcing provider has a single indexable page addressing it.
The Page Architecture That Scales
Everyone still says target industry-specific keywords. Yet nobody gives you the structure. So here it is.
| Layer | Example | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Service pillar | /customer-support-outsourcing/ | Owns the head term and links down |
| Service plus industry | /customer-support-outsourcing/healthcare/ | Matches how buyers actually search |
| Service plus industry plus delivery model | /customer-support-outsourcing/healthcare/nearshore/ | Answers the shortlisting filter |
| Service plus geography | /contact-center-outsourcing/colombia/ | Captures location-qualified demand |
| Compliance cross-cut | /hipaa-compliant-outsourcing/ | Cuts across every service, and links to all of them |
| Pricing cross-cut | /bpo-pricing-models/ | Captures finance-stage research |
Three rules, though, keep this from becoming a thin-content problem.
- First, every page must contain something the layer above does not. That might be a different compliance requirement, a different SLA structure, a named platform or a real process difference. If you cannot name the difference, do not build the page.
- Second, never build a geography page for a location you do not deliver from. Google is better at spotting this than it used to be, and buyers verify anyway.
- Third, link upward and sideways, not only downward. Each leaf page also links back to its pillar, and across to the compliance and pricing cross-cuts. That is what stops the matrix cannibalising itself.
Whose Geography Are You Optimising For?
Your delivery centre is usually in Manila, Bogota or Noida. Your buyer, meanwhile, is in Dallas. No page in the current search results resolves that tension, so here is the resolution.
| Signal | Point it at | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Google Business Profile | Your delivery and sales locations, honestly listed | Good for recruitment and local credibility. Close to useless for a US enterprise buyer |
| Service page geo targeting | The buyer market, not the delivery market | A US buyer searches for US based account management, not for a Manila call centre |
| Location landing pages | Delivery locations, framed as capability | Cebu is a claim about talent pool and time zone, not a local SEO play |
| hreflang | Only if you genuinely run separate language versions | Most BPO sites implement this badly, or not at all |
| Schema Organization address | Registered entity, with every delivery site as an additional location | Consistency here feeds both search and AI answers |
In short, the practical version is this. Local SEO is usually a recruitment channel for you, not a client acquisition channel. So treat it that way, and stop spending client acquisition budget on it.
Compliance Pages Are Ranking Assets, Not Legal Pages
Procurement and information security usually filter on certifications before anyone looks at your capability deck. Yet on the provider sites we reviewed, this is usually buried in a footer badge wall, or behind a gated PDF that search engines cannot read.
Each standard below is, in fact, a page that can rank. Each one also matches a real buyer filter.
| Standard or requirement | What the buyer is filtering for | What your page should contain |
|---|---|---|
| SOC 2 Type II | Independently audited controls over time, not a point-in-time snapshot | Audit period, auditor name, trust service criteria, how to request the report |
| ISO 27001 | A certified information security management system | Certificate number, certification body, scope statement, expiry and surveillance dates |
| ISO 9001 | Quality management discipline | Scope, certification body, how it maps to your QA calibration process |
| HIPAA and HITECH | US healthcare work can legally be handled | Willingness to sign a BAA, safeguards in place, training cadence |
| PCI DSS | Card data can be handled | Level, assessor, clean desk controls, whether payments are descoped |
| GDPR, DPA and SCCs | EU personal data is lawfully processed | Named DPO, lawful basis, sub-processor list, transfer mechanism |
| HITRUST | Healthcare buyers wanting more than HIPAA attestation | Assessment level and date |
| TCPA | Outbound calling into the US is compliant | Consent handling, DNC scrubbing, recording disclosure |
One caution. So only publish what you actually hold, with verifiable numbers and dates. An unearned compliance claim on an indexable page is, after all, a legal problem rather than an SEO tactic.
Data Residency and Jurisdiction: The Blocker Almost Nobody Writes About
Still, it appears on none of the ranking pages we reviewed, and it terminates deals. For example, some EU personal data cannot leave the EEA without a lawful transfer mechanism. Meanwhile, US healthcare, defence and government work often cannot be offshored at all. On top of that, many financial services buyers have internal policies that override the regulation.
So publish the following:
- First, where data is stored and where it is processed. Those are not always the same place
- Next, which delivery locations can and cannot handle which data classes
- Then, whether you offer an onshore or EU-resident option, and at what point it becomes available
- Also, your transfer mechanism for cross-border flows
- Finally, your sub-processor list
So if you offer an onshore or in-region option, that deserves a landing page of its own. It is also, in practice, one of the few places where a higher price is a selling point.
The NDA Problem: Proving Results Without Naming the Client
This is the hardest constraint in outsourcing marketing, and yet no ranking page addresses it. That is because your best work sits under an MSA that forbids you from naming the client, quoting figures, or sometimes even naming the industry.
Still, here are five ways round it that breach nothing.
- Negotiate the permission up front. Add a marketing clause to the MSA at signature, not at month eighteen when you need a case study. Ask for the narrow version: industry, service line, metric bands, no client name. In our experience a buyer is far more likely to agree to that at signature than later.
- Publish metric bands instead of exact figures. First contact resolution improved from the low sixties to the high seventies over two quarters carries almost all the persuasive weight of an exact number, and it breaches nothing.
- Use anonymised profiles with enough texture to be credible. A US healthcare payer, 240 seats, claims processing, nearshore delivery from Bogota is specific enough that a buyer recognises themselves in it.
- Let third-party reviews do the naming. Instead, a verified review on Clutch, G2 or Trustpilot is written by the client, on a platform you do not control. It also survives the NDA, because the client chose to write it.
- Publish process instead of outcomes. Your 30/60/90 ramp plan, QA calibration method and knowledge transfer protocol belong to you, though, not to the client. So publishing them proves capability without touching confidential results.
We use approaches four and five ourselves, of course. Our IBT case study publishes no traffic or ranking data, because the client has not released it. Instead it runs on scope, method and the client’s own public reviews. That format works, and it is more honest than the unsourced percentage claims that fill this niche.
Attrition, QA and the Other Numbers Buyers Ask For
Experienced BPO buyers usually arrive with a question list. These are real questions from published buyer checklists, quoted as written rather than paraphrased.
- “What Is the Rolling 12-Month Agent Attrition Rate for the Team Type That Would Support Our Account?”
- “What Is Your Knowledge Transfer Protocol When a Trained Agent Leaves?”
- “Are the Agents Who Support Our Account Dedicated Exclusively to Our Brand or Shared Across Clients?”
- “What Does Client-Visible Quality Assurance Look Like, What Access Do I Have to Scoring and Calibration Data?”
- “What Are the Exit Terms, Who Owns the Data, the SOPs, and the Trained Agents If We Transition Out?”
- “How Is AI and Automation Governed on Our Account and Who Controls Changes to That Layer?”
- “How well does the provider understand your industry’s compliance requirements?”
Sources: Global Response buyer checklist and Conduent.
Now, every one of those is a page you could publish, and almost nobody does. So if your attrition beats the industry norm, publishing it is the single most differentiating piece of content available to you. If it does not, publish the tenure and knowledge transfer protocol instead, and let that do the work.
Publish Your Pricing Models
Buyers usually research per-FTE, per-hour, per-seat, per-transaction, outcome-based, gainsharing and hybrid pricing long before they ever contact a vendor. Even so, those searches happen. Yet almost no outsourcing provider publishes anything against them.
Of course, you do not have to publish your rate card. Instead, publish the model explanations, what drives each one up or down, what sits inside a base rate, and what triggers a change order. That way you capture finance-stage research, and you also filter out buyers who were never going to fit your floor.
Get Into the Shortlists That Seed the Search
Enterprise BPO shortlists are rarely built from a blank Google search, though. Instead, they come from analyst tables and directories. Those listings then rank on your brand plus category queries.
| Source | Who uses it | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| IAOP Global Outsourcing 100 | Procurement and advisors | Apply first. The application itself forces you to document the proof you are missing |
| Everest Group PEAK Matrix | Large enterprise sourcing teams | Participate in the briefing cycle for your service line |
| ISG Provider Lens | Mid market and enterprise | The same, and it is less crowded than Everest |
| Clutch and G2 | Mid market buyers, and search engines | First, collect verified reviews. These rank on your brand name, and they feed AI answers |
| Outsource Accelerator | Buyers researching the category | A listing here ranks for a lot of category queries |
| IBPAP and NASSCOM | Regional credibility | Membership plus a member profile page |
Then two things happen when you do this. First, buyers find you inside a shortlist they already trust. You also pick up the third-party citations that make your own pages easier to rank.
Build Comparison and Alternatives Pages
This is standard practice in B2B SEO, though it is almost unused in outsourcing. Buyers actively compare providers, and yet very little is published against those queries.
- First, competitor alternatives pages, written honestly. Say where the competitor is genuinely the better fit, because that reads as more credible and it is also what earns the link.
- Second, delivery model comparisons. Nearshore versus offshore for your service line, with the real trade-offs named.
- Third, build versus buy. An in-house team versus an outsourced one, with the cost drivers named.
- Finally, geography comparisons. Philippines versus Colombia for US-hours support, for example, with time zone, language and cost realities.
AI Search: Getting Cited When a Buyer Asks ChatGPT
Vendor discovery now increasingly starts inside ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Google AI Overviews. Ask any of them for HIPAA compliant outsourcing providers and you already get a short list. Being on that list is a distribution channel too, and almost no BPO is working on it.
So here is what moves it:
- First, consistent entity information everywhere your company appears, so the model resolves you to one organisation
- Next, presence in the sources these systems cite, such as directories, analyst mentions, review platforms and trade press
- Also, structured data that states plainly what you do, where, and for whom
- Then content that answers a question completely in one place, because that is what gets extracted
- Finally, third-party reviews, because they carry disproportionate weight in these answers
We have run this work on live accounts. The mechanics are in our AI visibility case study.
Technical SEO Problems Specific to BPO Websites
Generic advice about site speed is not especially useful. These are the issues we actually find on outsourcing provider websites, listed in priority order.
| Priority | Issue | Why it matters | Fix |
|---|---|---|---|
| Critical | Duplicated location pages with the city swapped and nothing else changed | Thin content at scale, and it suppresses the pages that could rank | Consolidate, or give each page genuine local capability detail |
| Critical | Compliance documents published only as gated PDFs | The exact content procurement searches for is invisible to search | Publish an indexable HTML page, and gate the full report if you must |
| High | No Organization or Service schema | Weakens both rich results and AI entity resolution | Add Organization, Service and, where relevant, FAQPage markup |
| High | Orphaned service pages with no internal links in | Google struggles to find them, and assigns them no importance | Link every service page from the pillar, and from relevant content |
| High | Careers pages outranking service pages on brand queries | Your brand results sell to recruits, not to buyers | Strengthen the service pages, and control the brand SERP |
| Medium | hreflang missing or wrong across country versions | The wrong language version gets served to the buyer | Implement it properly, or remove the country versions |
| Medium | Case studies published as images or PDFs | There is no text for search engines to read | Publish as HTML, with the proof visible in text |
| Medium | Core Web Vitals failing on mobile | This affects experience more than rankings at this volume, but it still costs enquiries | Fix images, fonts and third-party scripts first |
| Low | Missing image alt text | Accessibility, plus a minor relevance signal | Describe the image. Do not stuff keywords |
Measuring SEO When You Close Four Contracts a Year
The other articles say track your KPIs. None of the ones we reviewed acknowledge that a BPO with a nine to eighteen month cycle and a handful of annual closes cannot run a normal marketing dashboard.
| Do not optimise for | Optimise for instead | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Total leads | RFI and RFP invitations received | One RFP invite is worth several hundred newsletter signups |
| Cost per lead | Cost per qualified opportunity, measured annually | A monthly figure is meaningless at this deal frequency |
| Total organic traffic | Traffic to compliance, pricing and service by industry pages | Those are the pages buyers read before enquiring |
| Last click attribution | Named account engagement across the full cycle | The last click is usually brand search. It tells you little |
| Monthly reporting | Rolling twelve month reporting, with a quarterly review | The signal does not exist inside one month |
Our view on what a report should contain is in reporting integrity and performance benchmarking.
E-E-A-T You Can Actually Operationalise
Half the pages ranking for these terms still carry no author byline at all. That is, in short, how low the bar is. So here is what you can do this month.
- First, name your delivery leads on the site, with real LinkedIn profiles and real tenure
- Next, publish certification numbers with audit dates and the certifying body, not badge images
- Also, publish a facility walkthrough video, because it answers the offshore quality objection faster than any paragraph
- Then describe your QA calibration process by name and cadence
- In addition, put a byline and a last-updated date on every article
- Finally, get verified third-party reviews, and do not incentivise them
The Table Stakes Checklist
Everything above is the differentiation, of course. This is the baseline the competing pages cover, compressed. Omit these and, frankly, none of the rest matters.
- First, pick a vertical and a service line, and say so on the homepage
- Then one owning page per service, with capability, scale and process on it
- Also, keyword research built on service, industry and problem language, not on the category label
- Title tags and meta descriptions written for the buyer role
- Next, Google Business Profile claimed and consistent for every delivery site
- Then the technical basics, so HTTPS, mobile, crawlable and reasonable speed
- A content programme aimed at decision makers, not at agents
- Also, backlinks from industry sources, not from link packages
- LinkedIn presence for the named leadership, not just the company page
- In addition, listings on Clutch, GoodFirms and the category directories
- A conversion-optimised landing page per service line
- Finally, an FAQ block answering the objections your sales team hears weekly
- Analytics and Search Console installed and verified before any of it goes live
Point eleven, in particular, is where most outsourcing providers lose the enquiry after doing everything else right. Our conversion rate optimisation work exists for exactly that gap.
Frequently Asked Questions
How can I get clients for my BPO company?
The durable version is a website that answers what a buyer needs before they enquire, together with listings in the directories procurement already uses and third-party reviews that vouch for you. Outbound can fill a gap while that builds, but it does not compound over time. So start with the service, industry and compliance pages described above.
How do I get a BPO project directly from the client rather than through a broker?
By being discoverable when the buyer is researching, which is months before an RFP is written. In practice that means compliance content, pricing model content and service by industry pages, plus presence in the directories that seed shortlists. After all, every broker-free pipeline is built on the buyer finding you first.
How can one obtain a call centre or BPO project from a foreign country?
Optimise instead for the buyer’s country, not yours. That means US-facing service pages, business hours coverage stated plainly, account management arrangements if you offer them, and the compliance standards that country’s buyers filter on. Even so, a Dubai, Manila or Noida head office is not a barrier. We covered exactly this in our BPO SEO case study.
What keywords should a BPO company target?
Service plus industry terms, compliance terms, delivery model terms and pricing model terms. Those, in short, are what a buyer actually types. Broad labels such as bpo companies look attractive on volume, but much of that traffic is students, job seekers and people wanting to start a BPO. So treat them as a low priority.
How long does SEO take for an outsourcing company?
Longer than ecommerce, and longer than local service. So expect early movement in months three to six on the low-competition compliance and long-tail terms. Then expect a meaningful pipeline effect from months six to twelve. Anyone promising faster is describing riskier work than an enterprise BPO can absorb mid-RFP.
Should a BPO invest in local SEO?
For recruitment, yes. For client acquisition, usually not. After all, your buyer is not searching for a call centre near them. So treat Google Business Profile as a hiring and credibility asset, and put client acquisition effort into service, industry and compliance pages.
Can I publish a case study if the client will not let me name them?
Yes. Use metric bands instead of exact figures. Then anonymise with enough operational texture to be credible. Publish your process rather than the client’s results, and let verified third-party reviews carry the naming. Better still, negotiate a narrow marketing clause into the MSA at signature.
What compliance pages should a BPO publish?
Whichever standards you actually hold, one page each, with certificate numbers, audit dates and certifying bodies. SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, ISO 9001, HIPAA, PCI DSS and GDPR handling are the common filters. So publish nothing you cannot evidence at all.
Do you work with agencies on a white label basis?
Yes. White label digital marketing is also delivered under your brand, with reporting your client can read.
