Roofing PPC is one of the fastest ways for a roofer to get calls from people who need a roof fixed now. It is also an easy place to waste money. Roofing clicks cost more than the home services average, storm weeks change demand overnight, and Google changed how Local Services Ads work in 2025 and 2026.

This guide shows US roofers how to set up Google Ads and Local Services Ads, set a budget and track leads to signed jobs. For the organic side, see our roofing SEO guide.

Summarize this article with:

Quick Answer: What is roofing PPC and what works best for roofers?

Roofing PPC means paying for Google ads that show when people in your service area search for roof repair, roof replacement or storm damage help. Most roofers do best with Local Services Ads for urgent repair calls, plus Search campaigns split by job type. Track every call and form to signed jobs, block bad searches, and set the budget from job value.

Quick Discussion

  • Google Guaranteed is gone. Since October 2025, one Google Verified badge has replaced it, and the Money Back Guarantee was discontinued.
  • LSAs are moving into Google Ads. The move began in August 2026 for select US home service advertisers.
  • Roofing leads cost more. LocaliQ puts the median roofing and gutter search ad lead at $228.15, against $90.92 for all home services.
  • Call ads are ending. No new call ads since February 2026. Use call assets.

How do you market a roofing company with Google Ads?

Set up tracking first. Then build separate campaigns for repair, replacement, storm and commercial work, each with its own keywords, ads and landing page. Target only the areas your crews serve, add your phone number as a call asset, and judge each campaign on cost per signed job, not cost per click.

  1. Track before you spend: count calls, quote forms and, later, which leads became jobs.
  2. Draw a tight service area: Google’s default, “Presence or interest”, also reaches people merely interested in your area. We use “Presence” and exclude towns we skip, since exclusions override targeting. See our location targeting guide.
  3. Match the ad to the search: a “roof leak repair” ad should promise a fast inspection, not financing. Show your license number and local address.
  4. Send clicks to a service page: phone number on top, a short form and photos of your own jobs.
  5. Start Local Services Ads early: Google’s screening takes 3 to 4 weeks on average after you submit documents.

Which roofing PPC campaigns should you run: storm, repair, replacement or commercial?

Roofing PPC campaign map separating repair and leaks, replacement, storm damage and commercial roofing by customer intent.

Run one campaign per type of job, because each has a different searcher, urgency and job value. Separate campaigns let you set the budget, bids and landing page for each one.

CampaignSearches it should catchWhat to set up
Repair and leaksroof leak repair, emergency roof repair, roof repair near meCall assets, schedule matched to answered hours, tight radius
Replacementroof replacement, new roof cost, metal roof installationCall plus form, a replacement page, signed jobs imported as conversions
Storm, hail and windhail damage roof repair, storm damage roof inspectionA paused campaign ready to switch on for affected ZIP codes
Commercialcommercial roofing contractor, flat roof repair, TPO roofingOwn budget, form-led page, longer follow-up with property managers

How should roofers handle storm and insurance claim searches?

Build the storm campaign before storm season and leave it paused. When hail hits, switch it on for the affected ZIP codes and raise its budget. Out-of-town crews advertise after big storms too, so your address, license number and local reviews matter.

Watch the claim wording. Texas (without the insurer’s consent), Colorado and Minnesota bar advertising that you will pay, waive or rebate a deductible.

Florida requires set disclosures, in at least 12-point type, on ads that encourage people to contact a contractor to make a roof damage claim. Florida also requires your license number in every advertisement. This is not legal advice.

Most residential roofers should run both. Local Services Ads charge per lead and suit urgent repair calls, where reviews win. Search ads charge per click and give you the keyword, page and form control that replacement, storm and commercial work need. With budget for one, pick LSAs if you have strong reviews and answer every call.

What changed for roofing Local Services Ads in 2026?

Google is moving LSAs into Google Ads as a Performance Max campaign type. Phase one began in August 2026 for select US home and storefront service advertisers, with roofing among Google’s examples. Service-area businesses follow in late 2026.

  • Bidding: manual per-lead bids go, and one target CPA covers all categories in a campaign.
  • Missed calls: a missed call in business hours counts as a lead if the caller holds for more than 20 seconds. Set hours to when someone answers.

Is buying leads from Angi or HomeAdvisor better than running your own ads?

Bought leads can fill a slow month, but your own ads bring leads nobody else gets and data you keep. In January 2023 the FTC announced a proposed order for HomeAdvisor to pay up to $7.2 million, alleging it overstated how often its leads became jobs (FTC). Compare cost per signed job across every source.

Is Google Guaranteed worth it for roofers?

Google Guaranteed no longer exists in its old form. From October 2025, Google replaced it, Google Screened and License Verified with one Google Verified badge, and ended the Money Back Guarantee for services booked from December 7, 2025. The real question now is whether LSAs with Google Verified pay off for you.

They usually do if you have a good rating, steady reviews and fast call answering, since Google says missed calls can hurt responsiveness. Set job types and service area to the work you want. If your site still says “Google Guaranteed roofer”, update it. See our Local Services Ads guide.

How much should a roofing company spend on PPC?

Work backward from the jobs you want, not from a flat percentage. Divide your target signed jobs by the share of leads you close, then multiply by your cost per lead. That is your monthly ad budget. Agency management is a separate line on top.

What does a roofing lead cost on Google?

Search ads (median)Roofing and guttersAll home services
Cost per click$10.70$7.85
Conversion rate3.70%7.33%
Cost per lead$228.15$90.92

Roofing converts at about half the home services rate, so the landing page matters. For LSAs, the agency 99 Calls reported a roofing average of $106.87 per lead for April to June 2026, across its own accounts (99 Calls, September 2026). That is one agency’s data, not a market average.

How do you work out a roofing PPC budget from job value?

A worked example with sample inputs. Swap in your own CRM numbers.

  1. You want 4 more signed replacements a month.
  2. 60% of ad leads are real prospects, and you sign 30% of those: 0.18 jobs per lead.
  3. 4 divided by 0.18 is about 22 leads.
  4. At $228.15 per lead, that is about $5,000 in ad spend.
  5. Hustle Marketers’ fee is $600 to $800 per platform per month, separate from ad spend.

If each replacement leaves $4,000 gross profit, four jobs return $16,000 against about $5,600 to $5,800 in cost. Try our Google Ads budget calculator, the Google Ads cost guide, or our contractor marketing guide for budgets across channels.

How do you track roofing quote forms and calls as conversions?

Track calls from ads, calls and forms from your website, and which leads became signed jobs. The signed jobs tell Google which leads are worth money, so bidding stops chasing cheap junk leads.

  1. Calls from ads: use call assets with call reporting on, and set a minimum call length longer than a wrong-number call.
  2. Website calls: Google forwarding numbers replace your site number for visitors from ads. This needs the Google tag.
  3. Quote forms: count the confirmed submission, not the button click, and turn on enhanced conversions for leads with auto-tagging.
  4. Instant estimate widgets: if the tool runs in an iframe or on another domain, test that a conversion fires, or pass the click ID to your CRM.
  5. Signed jobs: import them from your CRM with job value. Google began moving these uploads to the Data Manager API on June 15, 2026.
  6. Call quality: AI-qualified call leads use call recordings, for US and Canada numbers, so only qualified calls count. Full setup is in our conversion tracking guide.

Which negative keywords should roofing campaigns use?

Block job seekers, DIY searches, retail shoppers and the other meanings of “roof” before launch. Put these at account level, so a gap in one campaign list does not matter. Google allows 1,000 account-level negatives, covering search and shopping inventory in Search, Performance Max, Shopping and other campaign types.

ThemeExample negativesLevel
Jobsroofing jobs, roofer salary, apprenticeshipAccount
DIYdiy, how to, youtubeAccount
Other “roofs”roof rack, sunroof, red roof inn, roof ratsAccount

Our view: start new campaigns on exact match, and build this list in phrase and exact before you open up to broad. See our negative keywords guide.

Roofing PPC management: what should an agency do each month?

Good roofing PPC management is weekly work, because search terms, lead quality and weather move fast. Each month, the agency should report cost per inspection and cost per signed job. You should own the ad accounts and see the fee in writing, apart from ad spend.

WhenTaskWhy it matters
WeeklyReview search terms, add negativesStorm weeks bring messy searches
WeeklyListen to calls, rate LSA leadsWrong-job and out-of-area leads get no credit
WeeklyPace budget to weather and crewsDo not buy leads you cannot schedule
MonthlyImport signed jobs, report cost per jobShows which campaign makes money

Roofing PPC FAQs

How much does a roofing lead cost on Google Ads?

LocaliQ puts the median roofing and gutter search ad lead at $228.15, from US campaigns run April 2024 to March 2025. For Local Services Ads, the agency 99 Calls reported $106.87 per roofing lead for April to June 2026 across its own accounts.

Can roofers mention insurance claims in Google Ads?

Be careful. Texas, Colorado and Minnesota bar advertising that you will pay, waive or rebate a deductible, and Florida requires set disclosures on ads that encourage roof damage claims. Keep ads about inspections and repairs, and check with a lawyer in your state.

Can roofers still use call-only ads?

Not new ones. Google removed the option to create call ads in February 2026, and existing call ads stop getting impressions in February 2027. Add your phone number to responsive search ads as a call asset, and keep call reporting on so calls count as conversions.

How long does roofing PPC take to work?

Search ads can bring clicks soon after approval. Local Services Ads start later, because Google’s screening takes 3 to 4 weeks on average. Judging cost per signed job takes longer, since a roof replacement is rarely signed on the first call.

Should roofers use broad match keywords?

In our experience, not at the start. Start new roofing campaigns on exact match, because broad match needs conversion data to find the right searches. Exact terms cost more per click, but the traffic matches. Before opening up to broad, add negatives in phrase and exact.

How much does a roofing PPC agency charge?

Agencies usually charge a percentage of ad spend, a flat retainer or a mix. Hustle Marketers charges $600 to $800 per platform per month, month to month with no lock-in, separate from ad spend. Whoever you hire, keep ownership of your ad accounts.

How we created this guide

Ishant Sharma researched this guide in October 2026. We read 13 pages ranking in US web search for roofing PPC terms. Then we checked each policy and number at its source: Google’s help pages and Google Verified post, the LocaliQ benchmark, four state statutes and the FTC’s HomeAdvisor release.

Where a figure comes from one company’s data, we say so. Advice marked as our view comes from managing Google Ads accounts. This guide is not legal advice.
