Quick answer: The best Google Ads agency in Melbourne in 2027 is Hustle Marketers, a Clutch Award winner and Google Partner that runs campaigns for Australian businesses with transparent AUD reporting and senior management on every account. Melbourne is one of Australia’s most competitive markets, so the agency you pick matters. The ones that win in Melbourne prove results for local businesses, report transparently with ad spend going straight to Google and no hidden mark-ups, hold Google Partner or Premier status, let you keep full account access, and optimise continuously rather than just setting up and spending. They understand Melbourne’s competitive verticals and local search intent.
Key takeaways
- Melbourne is one of Australia’s most competitive business markets, so expert local Google Ads management matters more here.
- The best Melbourne Google Ads agency reports transparently in AUD, with ad spend going straight to Google and no hidden mark-ups.
- Google Premier Partner status places an agency in the top 3 percent in Australia, a useful credibility filter.
- You should keep full access to your own Google Ads account, since the data and history are your asset.
- Hustle Marketers leads this list with proven Australian results, senior oversight, and flat pricing A$860 to A$1,146/mo per platform.
- Click price decides how far a small budget goes: an example AUD 1,500 a month buys about 375 clicks at AUD 4 a click, but only about 21 at AUD 70.
- Ask any agency for brand and non-brand results separately. Across 22 accounts Hustle Marketers managed, brand Search returned a median 16.44x ROAS against 3.09x for non-brand Search.
The best Google Ads agency in Melbourne in 2027 is the one that proves results in a competitive market and reports transparently, not the one with the loudest pitch. Melbourne businesses face rising costs and strong competition, so they need a partner who understands local intent and bills clearly in AUD. So the agencies that win combine proven performance, transparency, account access, and continuous optimisation.
This guide compares the 12 best Google Ads agency Melbourne picks for 2027, ranking the top local options. Every agency was assessed on proven results, transparency and account access, conversion focus, and Google Partner status. Hustle Marketers leads the list as a Clutch Award winner with proven Australian results and senior management on every account. The full approach runs across the PPC agency page and the Australia guide.

What makes the best Google Ads agency in Melbourne?
The best Google Ads agency in Melbourne is one that proves results in a competitive market, reports transparently in AUD, and understands local search intent, not just one with a flashy pitch. Unlike a generalist running setup-and-spend campaigns, a top Melbourne agency optimises continuously, sends every ad dollar straight to Google with no mark-up, and gives you full account access. Melbourne is competitive and costs are rising, so the agency you pick decides whether spend becomes revenue.
In practice, the best Melbourne Google Ads agency offers:
- Proven results for Melbourne and Australian businesses
- Transparent AUD reporting, with ad spend going directly to Google
- Google Partner or Premier status, placing it in the top tier
- Full account ownership and access, so your data stays yours
- Continuous optimisation, not one-time setup and spend
The distinction matters because Melbourne’s competitive market rewards local understanding and accountability. A generalist running generic campaigns loses to a partner that knows Melbourne search behaviour and reports on real outcomes.
Why choosing the right Melbourne Google Ads agency matters more than ever in 2027
In a market as competitive as Melbourne, the agency you pick is the difference between profitable growth and wasted budget. The economics are clear. Australian agency pricing typically runs 10 to 20 percent of ad spend or a flat retainer from around $500 to $3,000+ a month, separate from the spend itself, with one-off audits often starting around AUD $3,000. On top of that, costs per click keep rising in Melbourne’s competitive verticals. So with real money on the line, expert local management decides whether ad spend turns into customers.
Proven Melbourne results beat big claims
Because Melbourne is full of agencies claiming to be the best, what matters is documented results, not promises. So the right agency shows real case studies with leads, sales, or ROI growth for Australian businesses. A polished pitch is not proof your campaigns will perform.
Transparency in AUD protects your budget
Some agencies mark up ad spend or bury fees, so you never know what goes to Google versus the agency. So the right agency sends every ad dollar straight to Google with no hidden mark-up and reports clearly in AUD. Transparency is how you know your budget is working. The same discipline runs through broader PPC management.
Google Premier Partner status is a useful filter
Premier Partner status places an agency in the top 3 percent in Australia, reflecting sustained performance. So while it is not the only signal, it is a useful filter, especially paired with verified reviews. The badge means the agency has met Google’s higher bar across client accounts.
Local Melbourne understanding wins
Melbourne search behaviour, competition, and seasonality differ by suburb and industry. So the right agency understands the local market and tailors campaigns accordingly. Generic global strategies miss the nuances that win in Melbourne’s competitive verticals.
What do Google Ads cost in Melbourne?
Melbourne sits second only to Sydney on cost, which is the single most useful thing to know before you compare quotes. Legal is the extreme case: “personal injury lawyer Melbourne” pushes past $70 AUD a click, among the priciest keywords in the country. Trades, finance and legal run roughly $6 to $90 depending on city and speciality, while the Australian average across all industries sits somewhere between $2 and $5, depending whose data you read.
Treat every one of those figures as directional, though. There’s no official Australian CPC benchmark. Google doesn’t publish cost per click by country, so any agency quoting you “Australian benchmarks” is really quoting US data converted to AUD, or their own account mix. We unpack what that means, how Melbourne compares to the other capitals, what management should cost, and how GST and mark-ups work in our guide to comparing Google Ads management across Australia.
The number that decides everything isn’t the click price anyway, it’s what a customer is worth. A Melbourne family law firm paying $70 a click is fine when a matter bills five figures. A cafe selling $5 coffees is not. So work out your break-even first, which our guide to calculating break-even ROAS covers.
How far does a small business Google Ads budget go in Melbourne?
A small business Google Ads budget in Melbourne goes only as far as your click price allows. At the same example budget of AUD 1,500 a month, a business paying about AUD 4 a click buys roughly 375 clicks, while a personal injury firm paying AUD 70 buys about 21, too few to judge a campaign.
The table below holds the budget and the conversion rate steady, so you can see what the click price alone does. Treat it as a worked example, not a quote or a forecast.
| Example scenario | Example cost per click (AUD) | Clicks from AUD 1,500 | Enquiries at 6.17% | Cost per enquiry (AUD) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Typical cross-industry click | 4 | 375 | About 23 | About 65 |
| Trades and home services | 15 | 100 | About 6 | About 243 |
| Personal injury law | 70 | About 21 | About 1 | About 1,135 |
Example numbers only, for ad spend alone; management fees are extra. The click prices sit inside the ranges quoted earlier in this guide. The 6.17% conversion rate is the median for non-brand Search in the 8 lead generation accounts of Hustle Marketers’ 22-account benchmark study (October 2025 to September 2026), not a Melbourne figure.
Three things follow for a small Melbourne business:
- Ask for the minimum spend first. Some agencies only take accounts above a set monthly ad spend, so ask before the first call and save both sides time.
- Narrow the auction before you widen it. Start with one Search campaign on exact and phrase match terms for the suburbs you actually serve, and add Performance Max or display only once Search brings in paying customers.
- Compare the fee with the spend. A flat management fee takes a bigger share of a small budget than a large one, so judge the fee and the ad spend together.
If your click price sits near the legal end of the table, a small budget works better on one matter type in a tight area than on broad terms across Greater Melbourne. Our guide to the best Google Ads agency for small business compares providers set up for smaller accounts.
How many businesses compete for Google Ads clicks in Victoria?
Victoria had 773,986 actively trading businesses at 30 June 2026, a net gain of 19,581 (2.6%) over 2025-26, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics. That is 27.5% of the 2,814,778 businesses trading across Australia, and any one of them can start bidding on the keywords you want.
The net figure hides how much the field moves. The ABS counted 128,270 Victorian business entries and 108,461 exits in the same year. We divided both by 365 to show what that churn looks like in a Google Ads auction.
| Victoria, 2025-26 | Figure | What it means for your Google Ads account |
|---|---|---|
| Businesses trading at 1 July 2025 | 754,405 | The starting field of possible competitors |
| New businesses (entries) | 128,270 (17.0% entry rate) | About 351 new Victorian businesses a day, and some of them will bid on the same terms you do |
| Businesses that stopped trading (exits) | 108,461 (14.4% exit rate) | About 297 a day, so some advertisers in your Auction Insights report will drop out during the year |
| Businesses trading at 30 June 2026 | 773,986 (+19,581, or 2.6%) | Growth slightly below the national 3.1%, but on the second largest base in the country |
| Businesses trading in June 2022 that were still trading in June 2026 | 60.1% (428,743 of 713,171) | The lowest four-year survival rate of the six states, so the competitor set turns over faster than most |
| Businesses that started in 2022-23 and were still trading in June 2026 | 48.6% | Fewer than half of that year’s new businesses lasted three years, yet each one can bid while it trades |
Source: ABS Counts of Australian Businesses, including Entries and Exits, July 2022 to June 2026 (released 18 August 2026, data cube Tables 4 to 6). Daily figures calculated by Hustle Marketers by dividing the annual count by 365.
Three practical moves follow from this churn:
- Read Auction Insights every month. With hundreds of entries and exits a day, the advertisers you compete with in January are rarely the same set by June. Our guide to reading Google Ads Auction Insights shows what to look for.
- Do not budget from last year’s cost per click. A click price that rises with no change on your side is often a new entrant, so set budgets from recent data. Our breakdown of what drives Google Ads cost explains the moving parts.
- Keep a separate brand campaign. When a new business starts bidding on your name, you see it in that campaign straight away instead of losing it inside a blended number.
Which Melbourne suburbs should you target separately?
This is where most Melbourne accounts quietly leak money, and it’s a simple fix.
People in Melbourne’s suburbs don’t search like they live in Melbourne. Someone in Brunswick searches for a Brunswick plumber. Someone in Box Hill searches for a dentist in Box Hill. So if your campaign only targets Melbourne keywords, you’re invisible for those searches, and they’re usually cheaper and higher intent than the metro terms every agency in Cremorne is bidding on.
Build named ad groups for the suburbs you actually serve rather than one Melbourne bucket. Richmond, South Yarra, Brunswick, Fitzroy, St Kilda, Docklands, Box Hill, Camberwell, Dandenong, Frankston, Werribee, Craigieburn, Preston, Footscray, and out to Geelong if your service area reaches. Each is its own small market, with its own competition level and its own price.
Radius targeting handles this badly too. Google’s radius is straight-line distance, and greater Melbourne sprawls far enough that a 25 kilometre circle from the CBD sweeps in areas a tradesperson would never profitably reach in peak traffic. So build targeting from postcode clusters matching where you’d actually send a van, then bid up the zones carrying your best margins. When you shortlist agencies, ask how they’d structure your service area. Anyone reaching for a radius around a pin hasn’t thought about Melbourne.
Which location option should a Melbourne service business choose?
Most Melbourne service businesses that cannot serve callers from outside their area should choose Presence. Google’s default location option, Presence or interest, also reaches people who have only shown interest in your suburbs, while Presence limits ads to people in or regularly in them, according to Google Ads Help (checked October 2026).
Check this setting before you build suburb ad groups, because the default can spend a Box Hill plumber’s budget on people searching from interstate. Our guide to Google Ads location targeting covers both options, exclusions and radius limits.
Which Melbourne industries are hardest to advertise in?
Melbourne’s vertical mix is unusually broad, which is exactly why generic advice fails here. Your industry changes what good management even looks like.
Legal and professional services
The brutal one. Legal posts the highest CPC of any tracked industry, and Melbourne personal injury terms push past $70 a click. Our lawyer PPC agency page covers how we structure those accounts. A small firm entering that auction on a modest budget with broad keywords loses money fast. The winning approach is narrow: specific matter types, tight geography, and intake that actually answers the phone.
Education
Melbourne’s university and international student sector makes education one of its most distinctive verticals, and one of its most seasonal. Intake cycles concentrate demand into narrow windows, so pacing matters more than almost anywhere else. Spending evenly across the year wastes budget out of cycle, then runs dry exactly when applications peak.
Home services and trades
Trades keywords run roughly $6 to $30 across Australia, and Melbourne’s weather makes seasonality awkward. Unlike Brisbane, where cooling demand runs eight-plus months, Melbourne swings between heating and cooling with shoulder seasons that flatten demand twice a year. The upside is urgency, since someone searching for an emergency plumber converts fast. Our guide to Google Ads for lead generation covers turning that intent into booked jobs.
Ecommerce and retail
Melbourne’s retail sector is deep, and ecommerce plays by different rules entirely. You’re bidding on products rather than service areas, so geography matters far less and feed quality matters far more. If that’s you, start with ecommerce PPC management rather than a local campaign structure. If you want a Shopping specialist, our ranking of Google Shopping ads agencies compares them on feed and Merchant Center work.
B2B and finance
Long sales cycles, low search volume, high deal values. Optimising these campaigns to form fills is a mistake, because a form fill can sit six months from revenue. These accounts need offline conversion tracking wired to the CRM. They’re also the accounts most exposed to Australia’s end of financial year spike, when unallocated budgets push B2B costs up through May and June.
Can you recommend the best Google Ads strategies for Melbourne businesses?
The best Google Ads strategies for Melbourne businesses start with clean conversion data, then split budget by intent and location, keep brand and non-brand search apart, use Performance Max only with a healthy feed and brand exclusions, and schedule ads to the hours someone can answer the phone or ship the order.
Melbourne is a large and still growing auction. The ABS counted 5,435,590 people in Greater Melbourne at 30 June 2025, up 105,030 in a year, the biggest numeric gain of the four largest capitals (ABS Regional population 2024-25, released 31 March 2026). More people means more searches, but also more advertisers bidding on the same terms, so structure matters more than budget size.
At Hustle Marketers we map every Melbourne strategy to our Hustle Scaling Framework: Verify the tracking, Feed the platform clean conversion data, Structure campaigns by intent, then Steer budget each week toward the searches that turn into revenue.
| Business type | Strategy that usually works in Melbourne | Common mistake to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Trades and home services | Call-focused Search campaigns grouped into suburb clusters, call tracking, and an ad schedule that matches the hours your team answers the phone | One broad match campaign covering all of Greater Melbourne with no negative keywords |
| Professional services (legal, finance, health) | Exact and phrase match on high-intent terms, a separate brand campaign, and qualified leads imported back from your CRM | Optimising to form fills that never become paying clients |
| Ecommerce | Shopping and Performance Max built on a clean product feed, brand exclusions, and margin-based custom labels | Letting Performance Max claim sales that mostly came from people searching your brand name |
| Hospitality and events | Date-bound campaigns with budgets raised before peak dates, plus location and radius targeting | The same always-on budget every week of the year |
| B2B services | Office-hours scheduling, a lead qualification step before a conversion counts, and Microsoft Ads alongside Google | Counting every download or newsletter sign-up as a lead |
For the location layer, use the suburb groupings covered earlier in this guide rather than one Greater Melbourne campaign. For the ecommerce layer, our guides to Performance Max brand exclusions and margin-based custom labels in Google Shopping show the exact setup.
Should Melbourne businesses run Microsoft Ads as well as Google Ads?
Most Melbourne businesses that already make money from Google Ads should test Microsoft Ads next, because Bing held 9.41% of Australian search engine market share in August 2026 according to StatCounter, and a working Google campaign can be imported rather than rebuilt from scratch.
Ishant Sharma, who has managed Google Ads and Microsoft Ads accounts since 2013, treats Microsoft Ads as the first expansion channel for any account that already converts on Google, not an afterthought. Start with your best Search campaigns, keep the same conversion goals, and review search partner traffic separately. Our guides on importing Google Ads into Microsoft Ads and excluding Microsoft syndicated search partners cover both steps.
How can I improve my pay-per-click campaigns in Melbourne?
You can improve pay-per-click campaigns in Melbourne by fixing conversion tracking first, then cutting wasted search terms, separating brand from non-brand spend, checking the ad schedule against Victorian daylight saving, filtering spam leads, and only then raising bids or budgets on the campaigns that already produce paying customers.
The order matters. Raising the budget on a campaign with broken tracking only buys more of the wrong clicks. The rule we use at Hustle Marketers is simple: measure, then trim, then scale, never the other way round.
| Symptom | Likely cause | First fix |
|---|---|---|
| Plenty of clicks, few enquiries | Broad match with a thin negative keyword list | Review the search terms report weekly and add negatives before touching bids |
| Cost per lead looks great, but sales says the leads are poor | Spam or unqualified form fills counted as conversions | Filter junk leads and import qualified leads from your CRM (see our guide to Google Ads spam leads) |
| Performance Max seems to win every month | It is picking up searches for your own brand | Add brand exclusions and report brand and non-brand results separately |
| Calls arriving outside office hours after a daylight saving change | The account time zone or ad schedule was not checked when daylight saving started or ended | Review the schedule and call routing on 4 April 2027 and 3 October 2027 |
| Cost per click rising with no change on your side | New competitors entering the auction | Check Auction Insights before raising bids |
| Google Ads conversions do not match your CRM | Double counting or missing enhanced conversions | Audit your Google Ads conversion tracking |
Victoria moves to AEDT (UTC+11) at 2 am on Sunday 4 October 2026, while Queensland stays on AEST and Western Australia stays on AWST (ABC News, 24 September 2026). If your Google Ads account was set up on a Brisbane or Perth time zone, or you target customers interstate, check that the ad schedule still lines up with the hours your team can answer the phone. If you also run ads in Western Australia, our Perth Google Ads agency guide compares the agencies working there. Queensland’s southern border shows the same split at close range, and our guide to the best Google Ads agency Gold Coast picks explains how Coolangatta and Tweed Heads end up an hour apart.

What does Google Ads management in Melbourne include each month?
Google Ads management in Melbourne should include weekly search term and budget checks, regular ad testing, a monthly conversion and lead quality check, a monthly report in AUD, and a quarterly structure review. If your monthly report cannot show proof of each item, you are paying for setup and spend, not management.
The 12-point cadence below is the one we recommend for Melbourne accounts. Use it as a checklist when you compare proposals, and ask each agency which items it covers.
| # | Task | How often | Proof you should see |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Search terms review and new negative keywords | Weekly | A list of excluded terms and the reason for each |
| 2 | Budget pacing against the monthly target | Weekly | Spend to date versus plan, in AUD |
| 3 | Bid strategy and target check (target CPA or target ROAS) | Weekly | Notes on any target change and why it was made |
| 4 | Ad and asset testing | Every 2 to 4 weeks | Which headlines, descriptions or assets were paused or added |
| 5 | Conversion tracking check against your CRM or store | Monthly | Google Ads conversions reconciled with real leads or orders |
| 6 | Lead quality review with your sales team | Monthly | Junk leads removed from the signals that drive bidding |
| 7 | Auction Insights review | Monthly | New or departing competitors named |
| 8 | Location report by suburb or postcode cluster | Monthly | Bid or budget changes for high and low cost areas |
| 9 | Ad schedule check | Monthly, and when daylight saving starts or ends | Ad hours that match when your team answers the phone |
| 10 | Landing page review | Quarterly | Form, call button and load checks on mobile |
| 11 | Account structure review | Quarterly | Campaigns merged, split or paused, with reasons |
| 12 | Channel review (Microsoft Ads, Performance Max, YouTube) | Quarterly | A test plan with a budget and a success measure |
Two Melbourne dates deserve a calendar reminder. Victoria’s daylight saving changes shift when calls arrive, as the troubleshooting table above shows, and the end of the financial year on 30 June pushes many B2B costs up in May and June, as noted in the industries section. Plan budget and schedule changes for both before costs move, not after.

How we ranked the best Google Ads agency Melbourne picks for 2027
Four filters were applied to every candidate, so the list reflects real capability rather than marketing claims.
First, proven results for Melbourne and Australian businesses, with quantifiable case studies. Second, transparency in AUD reporting and full account access. Third, continuous optimisation and conversion focus rather than setup and spend. Fourth, verified third-party reviews on Clutch, Google, or Trustpilot, plus Google Partner status.
Every agency that cleared all four filters was scored on proven results, transparency, optimisation, and credentials. Ishant Sharma, founder of Hustle Marketers and the certified specialist behind googleadsspecialist.co, ran the editorial review on every pick.
The 12 best Google Ads agency Melbourne picks for 2027
Disclosure: Hustle Marketers wrote this guide and is included in this list. Ishant Sharma, also listed, is the founder of Hustle Marketers. We are based in Zirakpur, India, and have worked with Australian businesses remotely, so weigh every option here, including us, against the criteria and questions in this guide.
1. Hustle Marketers
Quick stats
Website: hustlemarketers.com. Founded 2020 and led by Ishant Sharma (in Google Ads since 2013), serving Melbourne and Australian time zones. Transparent flat pricing A$860 to A$1,146/mo per platform. Month-to-month contracts. Google Partner and Meta Business Partner. Recognized by Clutch as a top PPC agency and top Google Ads agency, with Clutch Award wins in 2023, 2024, and 2026. Portfolio spans $780M+ in tracked sales across 2,500+ brands.
Melbourne methodology
Hustle Marketers serves Melbourne businesses with revenue-focused management and senior oversight. Every engagement follows the Hustle Scaling Framework, a four-stage method refined across 2,500+ brands: Verify, Feed, Structure, Steer. First comes Verify. Conversion tracking, account ownership, and AUD reporting get confirmed before any spend change. Then Feed, where ad copy, landing pages, and offer positioning get aligned to Melbourne search intent. Structure follows next, with geo-targeting by suburb and region, plus budget protection. Steer comes last, with weekly search-term review, bid discipline, and continuous optimisation against real outcomes.
The model is documented on the PPC agency page, and Melbourne clients can also see the dedicated Google Ads consultant in Melbourne page. Pricing is a flat fee, not a percentage of spend, and ad spend goes straight to Google with no mark-up.
Verified results
Of course, the proof matters more than the pitch. A commercial cleaning client in Brisbane grew through geo-focused Australian campaigns. Across the wider portfolio, a white-label client has held a client-verified 30x ROAS for three years, CMSC grew leads 35 percent with a 300 percent ROI improvement, and an industrial coatings store hit a 12.84x ROAS on $123,000 in total ad spend. Across 2,500+ brands, $90M+ in ad spend has been managed to measurable outcomes.
How they work day to day
Every engagement starts with a free 13-section Google Ads audit. It covers account structure, ownership, conversion tracking, geo-targeting, and AUD reporting. The deliverable runs 25 to 40 pages and ships within 5 business days. After that, weekly work covers search-term review, bid discipline, and continuous optimisation. Ishant Sharma reviews every account personally in monthly sessions, with no handoff to junior staff.
Best fit for
Melbourne businesses across ecommerce, lead gen, local, and B2B that want proven results, transparent AUD reporting, account ownership, and senior oversight at accessible pricing.

Why choose Hustle Marketers as your Melbourne Google Ads agency
Honestly, plenty of Melbourne agencies sell awards and team size while running setup-and-spend campaigns and marking up ad spend. So the business pays for a logo and gets generic work. Hustle Marketers proves results, reports transparently in AUD, and keeps senior eyes on every account, and the numbers show it.
Since 2013. 2,500+ brands scaled. $780M+ in trackable client sales. $90M+ in managed ad spend. Google Partner and Meta Business Partner. Upwork Top Rated Plus with a 100 percent Job Success Score and a 5.0 rating. Named a top PPC agency and top Google Ads agency by Clutch, with Clutch Award wins in 2023, 2024, and 2026.
What separates the agency for Melbourne businesses comes down to three things. First, proven results with Australian clients plus a global portfolio across every vertical. Second, transparent AUD reporting with ad spend going straight to Google and no mark-up. Third, senior oversight, since Ishant Sharma reviews every account rather than handing it to a junior team.
The proof, with numbers
Still, the proof sits in named results. A Brisbane commercial cleaning client grew through geo-focused campaigns. Across the wider portfolio, a white-label client has held a client-verified 30x ROAS for three years, CMSC grew leads 35 percent with a 300 percent ROI improvement, and an industrial coatings store hit a 12.84x ROAS. Those are documented outcomes, not round numbers on a sales page.
If you want the agency relationship, start with the PPC agency page, or see the Google Ads consultant in Melbourne page.
Why Ishant Sharma
Because behind every Hustle Marketers Melbourne account is one practitioner who has been running Google Ads since it was called AdWords. Ishant Sharma has, since 2013, managed campaigns for more than 2,500 brands across Australia, the US, UK, and UAE.
The credentials are verifiable. Upwork Top Rated Plus, placing him in the top 3 percent of Google Ads talent on the platform. A 100 percent Job Success Score across thousands of engagements. A 4.9 out of 5 average across 591+ combined client reviews. Google Partner and Meta Business Partner status, recertified yearly. Clutch Award winner across 2023, 2024, and 2026.
But what matters more for Melbourne businesses is the working style. Ishant still manages accounts himself, reviewing each in monthly sessions. He has strong, tested opinions about geo-targeting, bidding, and transparent reporting, because he has managed hundreds of accounts. For direct access, googleadsspecialist.co offers one-on-one engagement.
Benefits of hiring a Melbourne Google Ads agency
When you hand Google Ads to the right Melbourne specialist, spend stops leaking and starts producing customers. Here are the benefits that matter most.
Proven results. For example, a top agency shows documented results with Australian businesses, so you are not the test case.
Transparent AUD reporting. Ad spend goes straight to Google with no mark-up, and reporting is clear in AUD.
Account ownership. A specialist keeps the account under your control, so your data and history stay yours.
Continuous optimisation. Ongoing work, not setup and spend, keeps campaigns competitive as Melbourne costs rise.
Local market understanding. A partner who knows Melbourne search behaviour tailors campaigns by suburb and industry.
Accessible pricing. A flat retainer A$860 to A$1,146/mo per platform funds senior management at a budget real Melbourne businesses can carry.
Google AdWords management Melbourne businesses still search for
Google AdWords became Google Ads in 2018. The name changed, but “Google AdWords management Melbourne” still describes the same core need: a qualified person or agency managing paid campaigns across Google’s advertising platform. It is not a separate product or an older service package. Searches such as “AdWords agency Melbourne” and “Google AdWords agency Melbourne” express the same commercial intent using the platform’s former name.
The distinction matters when a Melbourne business has an account built during the AdWords era. Keeping an old campaign live is not the same as preserving useful account history. Historical search terms, conversion records and audience learning can remain valuable, while outdated settings may prevent the account from using that information effectively.
A legacy AdWords account should be reviewed in a deliberate order. This is also the foundation of responsible Google Ads management Melbourne businesses can measure:
- Ownership and access: Confirm that the business owns the individual Google Ads account and can retain its data if the management relationship ends.
- Conversion actions: Identify which sales, qualified leads, calls or bookings are primary goals, then remove duplicate or misleading actions from bidding decisions.
- Campaign structure: Check whether brand, non-brand, competitor, product and location intent are separated only where that separation improves control.
- Keywords and search terms: Review current match behaviour, irrelevant queries and negative keyword coverage rather than relying on a list created years ago.
- Bidding and budgets: Match the bidding method to the quality and volume of conversion data instead of switching to automation without a reliable signal.
- Ads and landing pages: Replace outdated offers, extensions and destination pages, and confirm that mobile users can complete the intended action.
- Location settings: Recheck whether campaigns reach people in the Melbourne areas the business can profitably serve.
This audit-first approach preserves evidence while removing legacy waste. It also creates a clear change log, so the business can see what was altered and whether performance improved after each decision.
Google explains the original transition in its announcement introducing the Google Ads brand. For a deeper buyer-side explanation of how to assess the person making these decisions, Ishant Sharma’s guide to hiring a Google Ads specialist focuses on diagnosis, prioritisation and account ownership.
Google advertising Melbourne businesses should choose by objective
Google advertising in Melbourne can include several campaign types, but broader coverage is not automatically better. The correct starting point depends on what the customer is trying to do, the information available to the advertising system and the outcome the business can measure.
When comparing Google Ads companies in Melbourne, ask each provider to explain the job of every recommended campaign. “The algorithm will find customers” is not a complete strategy. The agency should identify the customer intent, conversion signal, budget control and creative or feed inputs required for that campaign to work.
| Business objective | Useful starting point | Inputs that matter | What management should monitor |
|---|---|---|---|
| Capture explicit demand for a service | Keyword-based Search campaigns | Search intent, relevant landing pages, location coverage, call or lead tracking and negative keywords | Search terms, qualified enquiry rate, missed-call handling, service-area profitability and budget pacing |
| Sell ecommerce products | Shopping, Search and Performance Max where the data supports it | Accurate product data, pricing, availability, images, conversion values, returns and margin context | Product-level spend, feed issues, new-customer value, revenue quality and products that consume budget without profitable sales |
| Generate B2B opportunities | Focused Search supported by remarketing or broader formats when the audience is defined | Qualified-lead definitions, CRM stages, offline conversion imports, sales-cycle length and high-value account information | Lead quality, pipeline progression, sales feedback, delayed revenue and queries that create volume without commercial fit |
| Build consideration before the customer searches | YouTube, display or other visual formats with a defined audience and message | Strong creative, audience logic, frequency controls, a suitable landing experience and an agreed measurement plan | Incremental reach, engaged visits, assisted conversions, frequency and whether the activity improves later demand |
| Support physical locations | Search and eligible location-based formats using accurate business information | Valid location assets, opening hours, correct phone numbers, store pages and location-level conversion actions | Calls, directions, local enquiries, location-level sales and whether geography matches actual customer access |
Performance Max is a goal-based campaign type that can access inventory across Google’s channels and complement keyword-based Search campaigns. That reach makes conversion quality, product data, creative assets and account guardrails more important, not less. Google’s overview of how Performance Max works explains the campaign’s role across Search, YouTube, Display, Discover, Gmail and Maps.
The final decision should follow the economics of the Melbourne business. A local service provider, ecommerce retailer and B2B company should not receive the same account structure simply because they operate in the same city. Hustle Marketers handles the agency delivery, including implementation, measurement and ongoing optimisation. Ishant Sharma contributes founder-led diagnosis and strategic review, giving businesses a clear connection between the decisions made in the account and the team responsible for carrying them out.
What do Melbourne businesses search for when they look for Google Ads help?
Melbourne businesses search for an agency first, then for ongoing management, then for an individual consultant or specialist, and many still use the old AdWords name. Semrush’s Australian database (October 2026) shows these as the main Melbourne searches.
| Search term | Monthly searches in Australia | Keyword difficulty (0 to 100) | What the searcher usually wants |
|---|---|---|---|
| google ads agency melbourne | 2,400 | 21 | A shortlist of firms to compare |
| google ads melbourne | 1,900 | 6 | Mixed: some want an agency, some want to set up ads themselves |
| google ads management melbourne | 1,600 | 22 | Ongoing monthly management, usually with a fee in mind |
| adwords agency melbourne | 1,600 | 21 | The same need, using the platform name Google retired in 2018 |
| adwords management melbourne | 1,600 | 15 | Often a business with an account built before the rename |
| google adwords management melbourne | 1,000 | 16 | As above, usually an older account that needs a review |
| google ads consultant melbourne | 590 | 13 | One senior person rather than an account team |
| google advertising melbourne | 590 | 8 | Early research, often before a budget is set |
| google ads specialist melbourne | 390 | 17 | Hands-on expertise for a specific problem |
| google ads expert melbourne | 390 | 15 | A second opinion or a fix for an account that stalled |
| adwords consultant melbourne | 320 | 15 | An individual, searched with the older name |
| google remarketing agency melbourne | 140 | 1 | One campaign type, usually for a site that already gets traffic |
Semrush groups close variants, so several rows share a volume and should not be added together. Two patterns still stand out. Four of the twelve terms use the AdWords name, which is why the AdWords section above still matters for legacy accounts. And searches for a consultant, specialist or expert each reach 320 to 590 a month, a sign that many Melbourne owners want one accountable person rather than a team.
If you are planning your own campaigns rather than hiring, the same research method applies to your customers’ searches. Our Google Ads keyword research guide walks through it step by step.
Should you hire a Google Ads consultant or an agency in Melbourne?
Hire a consultant when one account, one main channel and a clear problem need senior attention. Hire an agency when several channels must run together, when you need regular creative and landing page work, or when you need cover while one person is away. Many Melbourne businesses start with a consultant-led audit and move to a managed retainer once tracking is reliable.
| Your situation | Better fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| One Google Ads account, mostly Search, and you can review results yourself each week | Consultant | Senior judgment without paying for extra account management layers |
| You run ads in-house but need a second opinion or a fix for one problem, such as tracking or a cost spike | Consultant (hourly or project) | You keep control and pay only for the diagnosis and the fix |
| Google, Microsoft and Meta all need to run together | Agency | One team coordinates budgets, tracking and reporting across platforms |
| Ecommerce with a product feed and frequent product range changes | Agency, or a consultant with feed experience | Feed fixes, custom labels and Shopping structure need weekly hands-on time |
| Several locations or service areas across Melbourne suburbs | Agency | Location builds and suburb-level reporting take more hours each month |
| You need continuity when your main contact is sick or on leave | Agency | A team covers holidays, while a solo consultant may not |
| You want your own team to run the account in future | Consultant | Coaching and a documented change log transfer the skill to your staff |
Whichever you choose, the person doing the work matters more than the label. Ask who builds the campaigns, how many accounts that person runs, and whether you keep ownership of the account if you leave.
Hustle Marketers offers both routes. Ishant Sharma takes consultant-style engagements directly, and the agency team handles full management. Both are delivered remotely from India with calls and reporting on Melbourne time, and there is no Melbourne office. See the Google Ads consultant in Melbourne page for the consultant route, or our comparison of PPC consultants vs PPC companies for a deeper look at the trade-offs.
Is a Google Ads consultant, specialist or expert in Melbourne a different hire?
No. In Melbourne searches, a Google Ads consultant, specialist, expert or freelancer usually means the same hire: one senior person working inside your account rather than an account team. Anyone can use those titles, so judge the person on what they can show you, not on the label they chose.
Four checks separate a real specialist from a title:
- Work they can explain. Ask for accounts or industries they have run, with the numbers and the decisions behind them.
- Access done properly. They should link to an account you own through a manager account and never ask for your Google login.
- A stated workload. Ask how many accounts they run at once and how quickly they reply during Melbourne business hours.
- Cover when they are away. Ask who watches the account during holidays or sick leave, the gap the table above flags for solo consultants.
At Hustle Marketers the two roles are split: the agency team delivers the day-to-day work, and Ishant Sharma, the founder, leads senior strategy and review on each account. Our 12-point Google Ads agency scorecard works just as well for scoring an individual consultant.
How to choose the best Google Ads agency in Melbourne
Picking the right Melbourne partner is the difference between profitable growth and wasted budget. So weigh these factors.
Proven results. First, ask for real case studies showing leads, sales, or ROI growth, not vanity metrics.
Transparency. Confirm ad spend goes straight to Google with no mark-up, and that reporting is clear in AUD.
Account access. Make sure you keep full access to your own account and data.
Google Partner status. Verify certification, and treat Premier Partner status as a useful top-3% filter.
Ongoing optimisation. Confirm they optimise continuously rather than setting up and leaving it.
Senior access. Finally, confirm who manages the account. Melbourne competition rewards experience, so senior involvement predicts results.
What should I look for when choosing a PPC management agency in Melbourne?
Look for a Melbourne PPC management agency that sets up the ad accounts in your name, names the person who will run them, publishes or clearly states its fee, works month to month with a short notice period, and manages more than Google alone, including Microsoft Ads where your customers also search.
Pricing is the gap most agencies leave open. A Web Tonic review of Melbourne Google Ads agencies (updated 4 September 2026) found that only one of the 22 other firms it listed published a management rate. For comparison, we publish ours: a flat fee of USD 600 to 800 per platform per month, not a percentage of ad spend, and you pay Google or Microsoft directly with no mark-up.
Hustle Marketers built the eight-question scorecard below from the account takeovers we see most often. Any agency you shortlist, including us, should answer all eight in writing.
| What to check | What good looks like | Question to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Account ownership | Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, the Google tag, GA4 and Merchant Center all sit under your business, with the agency linked as a manager | Whose customer ID is this, and who holds Admin access? |
| Who does the work | A named specialist, and a stated number of accounts per manager | Who builds and optimises my account each week? |
| Fee model | A flat fee or a capped percentage, with GST treatment stated | Is the fee ex GST, and does it change if my spend doubles? |
| Contract and exit | Month to month, a written notice period, and a full handover on exit | What exactly happens on the day I leave? |
| Channels | Google Ads first, with Microsoft Ads and Meta tested where they fit | When would you test Microsoft Ads for my account? |
| Partner status | Google Partner at minimum, plus a plain explanation of what it proves | Can I see you in the Google Partners directory? |
| Reporting | Leads and revenue that reconcile with your CRM, not just clicks | How will your numbers match what my sales team sees? |
| Time zone | Reporting, calls and ad schedules on Melbourne time, including AEDT | How do you handle the daylight saving change? |
What does the Google Partner badge actually prove?
The Google Partner badge proves an agency currently meets Google’s minimums: a 70% optimisation score, USD 10,000 in ad spend across managed accounts over 90 days, and at least half of its account strategists certified, while Premier Partner is reserved for the top 3% of participating companies in each country, reviewed annually.
Source: Google Ads Help, How to become a Google Partner or Premier Partner (checked 24 September 2026). The badge shows activity and training, not results in your industry. Hustle Marketers is a Google Partner and a Microsoft Advertising Partner, so ask us and every other shortlisted agency for work in your vertical.
Should a Melbourne PPC contract include a lock-in?
A Melbourne PPC contract does not need a lock-in, and if a standard form contract lets only the agency end it, change it, or charge a penalty for leaving, it may breach the unfair contract terms rules, which have carried penalties since 9 November 2023.
The ACCC’s contracts guidance (page updated 21 July 2026) says the protections cover businesses with fewer than 100 employees or under $10 million in annual turnover. Maximum penalties for a company are the greatest of $50 million, three times the benefit obtained, or, if the benefit cannot be determined, 30% of adjusted turnover during the breach period (ACCC media release, 11 September 2023). Treat this as a check, not legal advice: if a term looks one-sided, ask a lawyer before you sign. We work month to month with no lock-in contract.
How do I choose the best Google Ads agency in Sydney or Melbourne?
Choose the best Google Ads agency in Sydney or Melbourne by judging the person who will run your account, their results in your industry and their contract terms, not the postcode on their letterhead, because both cities share a time zone and most Australian agencies already manage accounts nationally. Our Canberra Google Ads agency comparison shows the same pattern in the ACT, where most listed providers work from interstate or overseas.
Web Tonic’s reviewers make the same point: an interstate head office is “normal rather than disqualifying” (Web Tonic, updated 4 September 2026). What does differ between the two cities is scale and spread.
| Factor | Greater Sydney | Greater Melbourne |
|---|---|---|
| People at 30 June 2025 (ABS) | 5,638,830 | 5,435,590 |
| Growth in 2024-25 (ABS) | +75,230 (1.4%) | +105,030 (2.0%) |
| Time zone, 4 October 2026 to 4 April 2027 | AEDT (UTC+11) | AEDT (UTC+11) |
| Time zone, April to October | AEST (UTC+10) | AEST (UTC+10) |
| What to plan for in Google Ads | Several large business centres, such as the CBD, Parramatta and Norwest, that often deserve their own location targets | A dense inner city and fast-growing outer suburbs that rarely share the same cost per lead |
Sources: ABS Regional population 2024-25 and ABC News on daylight saving 2026. If you sell in both cities, run one account with separate campaigns or location groups for Sydney and Melbourne so each city’s cost per lead stays visible. Our Sydney Google Ads agency guide covers the Sydney side in more detail. For regional NSW, see our Newcastle Google Ads agency guide. For South Australia, see our Adelaide Google Ads agency guide.
Ishant Sharma, founder of Hustle Marketers, advises businesses weighing a Sydney agency against a Melbourne one to hire the specialist who will be inside your account every week first, and to ask where they are based second. Hustle Marketers works remotely with Australian businesses and does not have a Sydney or Melbourne office.
What changes if you also advertise in Brisbane or Canberra?
Brisbane needs its own ad schedule check when you run it from a Melbourne account, while Canberra keeps Melbourne’s clock. Queensland does not observe daylight saving, so from October to April Brisbane runs an hour behind Melbourne, and the ACT moved its clocks on 4 October 2026, the same day as Victoria (ABC News, 24 September 2026).
For call campaigns, that hour decides whether a Brisbane caller reaches your team or voicemail. Business Victoria says daylight saving ends on the first Sunday in April and starts on the first Sunday in October, which puts the next changes on 4 April 2027 and 3 October 2027. Review ad schedules and call routing for each city on both dates.
Each market also has its own buyers and competitors. Our Brisbane Google Ads agency guide and Canberra Google Ads agency guide compare the providers in those cities.
What are the red flags when hiring a Melbourne Google Ads agency?
We audit a lot of Melbourne accounts that went to the wrong agency. Fortunately, the warning signs are consistent.
They won’t give you ownership of the account
The big one, and the full vetting process sits in our guide to hiring a Google Ads agency. If the agency builds your campaigns inside their own account rather than a Google Ads account you own, you can’t leave with your data, your history, or your conversion learning. So every month you stay makes leaving more expensive. That’s the point of the arrangement. Insist on owning the account and granting them access, never the reverse.
The page is a template with the city swapped
Read their Melbourne page closely. Plenty of “Melbourne” agency pages were written for another city entirely, carrying results and references that don’t match the market they claim to serve. If they couldn’t be bothered writing one honest page about Melbourne, they won’t build you an honest campaign.
Round, unverifiable claims
Agency pages advertise figures like 8,700 percent ROI with no client, no timeframe, and no vertical attached. Real numbers are specific and tied to a named case. Vague numbers are decoration. Ask for the breakdown, and apply that test to our figures too.
Ad spend that routes through the agency
If your budget passes through an agency account before reaching Google, ask why. Mark-ups hide there. Spend should go straight to Google, and you should be able to see the invoice.
No conversion tracking conversation
If nobody asks how you currently track calls and forms in the first meeting, walk. Everything downstream depends on it, and most accounts we inherit are optimising toward conversions that were never set up correctly.
Nobody mentions GST or AUD
An agency quoting in USD, or quoting fees without clarifying GST, is telling you how much Australian work they actually do. Ask whether the retainer is AUD-locked or converted at spot rate. For the full vetting checklist, including the eight questions worth asking before you sign, see our Australian Google Ads buyer’s guide.
What ROAS should a Melbourne Google Ads agency deliver?
A Melbourne Google Ads agency should deliver a ROAS above your break-even point, and any figure it quotes should hold up against real medians. Across 22 accounts Hustle Marketers managed from October 2025 to September 2026, ecommerce non-brand Search returned a median 3.09x and brand Search 16.44x, so ask which one a claim includes.
These are the ecommerce medians from our benchmark study, with the middle 50% of accounts to show how wide the spread is.
| Campaign type (ecommerce) | Median ROAS | Middle 50% of accounts | Accounts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brand Search | 16.44x | 9.07x to 32.81x | 4 |
| Standard Shopping | 5.62x | 4.17x to 11.57x | 9 |
| Performance Max | 4.95x | 1.87x to 8.42x | 13 |
| Non-brand Search | 3.09x | 1.81x to 4.44x | 6 |
Source: Ishant Sharma, Google Ads Performance Benchmarks by Campaign Type (Zenodo, October 2026), 22 accounts (14 ecommerce, 8 lead generation) managed by Hustle Marketers, 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026. The figures describe one agency’s portfolio, not a Melbourne or Australian average.
Use the numbers to test what an agency tells you:
- Split brand from non-brand. A blended ROAS with heavy brand spend can look several times better than the work that wins new customers.
- Check the Performance Max share. Performance Max took a median 53.1% of spend in the ecommerce accounts, so ask how the agency stops it from claiming sales your brand searches would have brought anyway.
- Judge lead generation on lead quality. In the 8 lead generation accounts, non-brand Search took a median 49.2% of spend and converted at a median 6.17%, so ask for cost per qualified lead from your CRM, not form fills.
- Start from your margin. Break-even ROAS is 1 divided by your gross margin, so a 40% margin needs at least 2.5x before any figure counts as profit.
The lead generation results and the wider dataset are summarized in our PPC statistics and benchmark roundup.
Hustle Marketers success stories
The case studies below show what proven, transparent management produces. First the strategy, then the numbers.
Brisbane commercial cleaning: geo-focused growth
A commercial cleaning client in Brisbane grew through geo-focused Australian campaigns built around its service area, managed remotely with senior oversight. The work tightened local targeting, fixed conversion tracking, and optimised toward booked jobs rather than raw clicks. It is a clear example of Australian results driven by local-search expertise.
White-label client: client-verified 30x ROAS
A white-label client has held a client-verified 30x ROAS for three years running, built on tracking-first discipline: fix conversion tracking, restructure around intent, then steer with controlled bidding. The Clutch-verified review confirms the result directly from the client.
CMSC: 35% more leads and a 300% ROI improvement
CMSC is a multi-location service business that lives on local, call-driven demand. The rebuild added per-location structure, fixed conversion tracking with verified call events, and built out negative keywords. As a result, leads rose 35 percent and ROI improved 300 percent. The CMSC case study covers the approach.
Melbourne Google Ads FAQs
Are Google Ads more expensive in Melbourne than other Australian cities?
Melbourne sits second only to Sydney. Perth runs 10 to 35 percent below Sydney depending whose data you read, and Adelaide lower still, so national advertisers often pilot in Perth before scaling into Melbourne pricing. Mining and resources are the exception, running higher in Perth.
What does a Google Ads click cost in Melbourne?
Between $2 and $5 AUD across industries depending whose data you read, rising well past that in legal, finance and trades. “Personal injury lawyer Melbourne” pushes past $70. Treat these as directional, since no official Australian CPC benchmark exists.
Should I target Melbourne suburbs separately in Google Ads?
Yes. People in Brunswick, Box Hill and Dandenong search using their suburb name, not Melbourne. Separate ad groups for each suburb you serve capture cheaper, higher-intent clicks that metro-only campaigns miss entirely.
Does radius targeting work in Melbourne?
Poorly. Google’s radius is straight-line distance, so a 25 kilometre circle from the CBD includes areas a tradesperson can’t profitably reach in traffic. Use postcode clusters matching your real service area instead.
What is a Google Ads agency?
A Google Ads agency is a business that plans, builds, measures and improves paid advertising campaigns across Google’s platforms. Its work may include Search, Shopping, Performance Max, YouTube, display advertising, remarketing, product feeds, conversion tracking and reporting, depending on the client’s goals.
A capable agency does more than operate campaign settings. It connects advertising decisions with the offer, landing page, customer journey and commercial result. The client should retain appropriate account access and receive a clear explanation of what changed, why it changed and how the outcome will be evaluated. Hustle Marketers provides the agency delivery model, while Ishant Sharma contributes founder-led diagnosis and strategic review.
If your next priority is organic rather than paid search, our Hobart SEO provider comparison explains how to compare local and remote delivery, public evidence, pricing, implementation and Tasmania coverage.
Will I own my Google Ads account?
You should always own your Google Ads account, which means the account is created under your business’s Google login, your card or invoice is the payment method, you hold Admin access, and the agency only connects through a manager account link that you can remove at any time.
- Create the account with a Google login your business controls, not a staff member’s personal Gmail.
- Add your own payment method so Google bills you directly. Google’s Help Centre says Google Australia Pty Limited invoices Australian advertisers and charges 10% GST (checked 24 September 2026).
- Keep at least two Admin users from your own business. Google’s access levels guide notes that only Admin users can give account access, change access levels and accept manager account link requests.
- Give the agency your Google Ads customer ID. The agency sends a link request from its manager account, and you accept it under Admin, then Access and security (Google’s manager account linking guide).
- Keep the Google tag, GA4 property, Google Tag Manager container and Merchant Center account in your business name as well.
This is how Hustle Marketers works with every client: you own the ad accounts, and we are linked as a manager.
Do I get a dedicated Melbourne-based account manager?
Not with Hustle Marketers, because we work remotely with Australian businesses and do not have a Melbourne office, but you still deal with a founder-led team: Hustle Marketers is led by Ishant Sharma, who has run Google Ads, Microsoft Ads and SEO work since 2013, so you know who is accountable.
Whichever agency you choose, ask how many accounts each manager runs. Ad Partner’s April 2026 Melbourne hiring guide lists account managers carrying 30 or more clients as a red flag.
Can a new agency take over my existing Google Ads account?
Yes, a new agency can take over your existing Google Ads account without losing its history, as long as the account is in your name: you remove the old agency’s manager link or user access, accept the new agency’s link request, and keep every campaign, conversion action and search term report intact.
If the old agency built the account under its own manager or payments profile, sort out a transfer before you give notice. A Google Ads Community thread titled “My Agency isn’t giving me access to my Google adwords account. What should I do?” shows how messy this gets when ownership was never settled.

Conclusion
The best Google Ads agency in Melbourne proves results in a competitive market, reports transparently in AUD, and treats your account like your asset. The wrong one sells awards and team size while running setup-and-spend campaigns. So while every agency on this list can run campaigns, if you want proven results, transparent reporting, account ownership, and senior oversight, Hustle Marketers is where to start.
