A good Google Ads agency in Canberra shows you where it works from, what it charges and who owns the account. This Google Ads agency Canberra comparison covers 14 providers that sell Google Ads management to local businesses. Four list a street address in the ACT, one more names Canberra as its base, and the rest work from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or overseas.

Disclosure: Hustle Marketers publishes this page and lists itself first. Our founder, Ishant Sharma, is listed second. We have no office, entity, ABN or staff in Canberra or anywhere in Australia. Our Google Ads work is delivered remotely from Zirakpur, India.

Key Observations

  • Four of the 14 providers list an ACT street address on their own website: Stavridis Group (Isaacs), JSLmedia (Canberra City), Captovate (Deakin) and Cybersecure Solutions (Whitlam). Strova Marketing names Canberra without a street address. See the comparison table.
  • The Australian Public Service had 70,221 employees in the ACT in 2025, 35% of the APS, as reported by The Canberra Times from the 2025 State of the Service report. Government demand shapes many Canberra B2B accounts.
  • Non-corporate Commonwealth entities must place all their advertising through the Central Advertising System, so a Google Ads agency in Canberra mostly serves the private sector and government suppliers, not departments buying media.
  • Hustle Marketers charges US$600 to $800 per platform per month, about A$857 to A$1,143 at the RBA rate of 0.7002 on 14 October 2026. That is an approximate conversion, and ad spend is paid to Google separately.
  • Google AdWords became Google Ads on 24 July 2018, according to Google Ads Help. An “AdWords” account in Canberra is the same product under the old name.

How did we check these Google Ads agencies in Canberra?

We checked every Google Ads agency in this Canberra list on its own website in October 2026. We recorded where each one says it is based, whether Google Ads appears in its services, and whether it publishes prices, contract terms or Google Partner status. Providers we could not find, or that no longer list Google Ads, were removed.

  1. Location. Does the website show a street address in the ACT, or only a Canberra service page?
  2. Service. Is Google Ads, paid search or PPC listed as a service today?
  3. Price and terms. Does the site publish a fee, a starting budget or contract terms?
  4. Credentials. Does the site state Google Partner or Premier Partner status? You can confirm it in the Google Partners directory.

The order below is not a score. Hustle Marketers and Ishant Sharma come first because we publish the page. After that, ACT-based agencies come before interstate and national ones. We did not take payment from anyone listed, and we have not reviewed their client results, so speak to two or three before you choose.

How much does Google Ads management cost in Canberra?

Google Ads management in Canberra has two costs: the agency fee and the ad spend you pay Google. Few providers publish fees. Published figures range from $250 a month in management at Web Engine to $5,000 to $8,000 a month for media plus retainer at Zib Digital.

The table below lists the figures we found. These are market figures published by other providers, not Hustle Marketers’ price.

Provider or sourcePublished figure (AUD unless stated)What it covers
Web Engine (Brisbane, Canberra page)From $250 a month, and packages from $750Management fee, ad spend extra (page shows both figures)
sitecentre (Queensland, Canberra page)Median client ad budget $1,000 to $3,000 a monthAd spend, not the fee
Zib Digital (South Melbourne, Canberra page)Around $5,000 to $8,000 a monthMedia plus retainer combined
Search Marketing Group (DesignRush)Minimum budget $1,000 to $10,000; about $200 an hourProject budget and hourly rate
TechBehemoths (directory)10 to 20% of ad spend, or a flat fee around $1,000 a monthTypical agency pricing models
Hustle Marketers (RBA rate)US$600 to $800 per platform per month (about A$857 to A$1,143)Management fee only, ad spend extra

Sources: provider pages linked in the table, checked 14 October 2026. Hustle Marketers conversion uses the RBA rate of 0.7002 USD per AUD on 14 October 2026; the AUD figure is approximate and moves with the exchange rate.

Before you compare quotes, ask each agency to split the fee from the ad spend in writing. A percentage of spend rises as you scale, while a flat fee does not. To estimate spend for your keywords, try our Google Ads budget calculator and CPC calculator, then check real Canberra bids in Keyword Planner. Our PPC management pricing guide explains fee models in more detail.

What makes Google Ads in Canberra different?

Google Ads in Canberra differs from other capitals because the public sector is so large. The ACT had 70,221 Australian Public Service employees in 2025, according to The Canberra Times, out of an ACT population of 489,700 in March 2026, per the ABS.

That shapes who searches. Many B2B searches come from suppliers and contractors who sell to government. Their buyers decide through a procurement process, not a single click. Consumer services such as trades, health and hospitality work much like any other city, with fewer people to reach than Sydney or Melbourne.

  • Business growth: the number of ACT businesses grew 1.9% in 2024-25, down from 3.5% the year before, according to the ACT Wellbeing Framework, which uses ABS data.
  • Public sector output: public administration and safety grew 7.2% in 2024-25, the fastest of any ACT industry, on the same ACT Government page.
  • APS share: the ACT’s share of the APS fell to 35% in 2025 from 37% in 2024, even as headcount rose, as The Canberra Times reported.

Can Google Ads target specific Canberra districts and Queanbeyan?

Google Ads can target Canberra districts by suburb, postcode or radius, and Queanbeyan can be added as a separate NSW location. Split campaigns or bid adjustments by town centre (Civic, Belconnen, Woden, Tuggeranong and Gungahlin) when service areas or travel times differ. Our Google Ads location targeting guide covers the setup.

Check the location option too. Google’s default, “Presence or interest”, can show ads to people outside Canberra who show interest in it, while “Presence” limits ads to people likely to be in the area, according to Google Ads Help. Local service businesses usually want Presence.

When are the busy and quiet periods for Canberra advertisers?

Canberra’s B2B calendar follows federal Parliament and the financial year. The 2026 parliamentary sitting calendar set the Budget for 12 May 2026, with estimates hearings in February, late May to early June, and 26 to 29 October.

  • May and June: many B2B buyers plan around the end of the financial year on 30 June. Compare your own enquiry data for these months before you set budgets.
  • Budget and estimates weeks: policy announcements can change what suppliers search for. Watch search terms that week.
  • Christmas and New Year: many offices close over the break. If your past data shows B2B enquiries dropping, move budget to consumer campaigns or pause low-intent keywords.

Can Google Ads help you win government work in Canberra?

Google Ads can support a Canberra business that sells to government, but it cannot replace the tender process. Commonwealth open tenders are advertised on AusTender, and buyers can also use limited tenders and panels, according to the Department of Finance guide Identifying opportunities to sell to government.

The same guide says the process is most structured for purchases over $80,000. Extra rules apply above $400,000 for some organisations. Below those levels buyers may approach suppliers directly for quotes. That is where search ads help: a buyer researching suppliers finds you, reads your capability statement and remembers your name.

Buyer routeWhat Google Ads can doWhat it cannot do
Open tender on AusTenderBrand search ads and remarketing while buyers research biddersGet you onto the shortlist or replace a tender response
Panel or standing offerKeep your name in front of panel buyers between roundsAdd you to a panel outside its procurement round
Direct quotes below thresholdsCapture searches for your service and send leads to a capability pageGuarantee value-for-money approval

Do Commonwealth agencies hire a Google Ads agency directly?

Non-corporate Commonwealth entities must place all their advertising through the Central Advertising System, run by the Department of Finance, according to Finance. The master media agency is Universal McCann. Corporate Commonwealth entities may also use it. So most Canberra Google Ads agencies work for businesses, not for departments buying media.

What rules apply to ACT Government advertising?

ACT Government campaigns fall under the Government Agencies (Campaign Advertising) Act 2009, which requires reports on government campaigns to the Legislative Assembly, prepared by an Independent Reviewer. The reviewer’s July to December 2021 report shows search and social media within reviewed campaigns, and notes VisitCanberra campaigns are normally exempt. This is general information, not legal advice.

Is Google AdWords in Canberra the same as Google Ads?

Google AdWords and Google Ads are the same product. On 24 July 2018, Google AdWords became Google Ads, according to Google Ads Help. A Canberra business searching for AdWords management, an AdWords consultant or an AdWords agency needs the same service as one searching for Google Ads.

Older Canberra accounts often still carry settings from the AdWords years, so inspect the account before anyone rebuilds it. A rebuild throws away history that smart bidding uses.

What should you check when taking over an older AdWords account?

  1. Ownership: confirm your business owns the account and holds admin access. Google explains how to add and remove users in Manage access to your Google Ads account.
  2. Change history: review the last two years of changes and who made them. Google keeps change history for two years, according to About change history.
  3. Conversion tracking: check that calls and forms are counted once. Our conversion tracking service covers this.
  4. Location settings: confirm Presence targeting and that Queanbeyan is included or excluded on purpose.
  5. Negative keywords: look for an account-level list that blocks jobs, free and training searches. See our negative keywords guide.

Our Google Ads audit checklist walks through the full review.

Google Ads consultant, specialist or agency in Canberra: which do you need?

A Google Ads consultant or specialist suits a Canberra business that needs advice or an audit. An agency suits one that needs ongoing management, reporting and cover when someone is away. The right choice depends on your budget, your in-house skills and whether you want to meet in person.

OptionBest whenWatch for
Freelance consultant or specialistYou have one account and want senior hands on itNo cover during leave; check who does the work
ACT-based agencyYou want face-to-face meetings and local knowledgeSmaller teams; ask about Google Ads depth, not just web design
Interstate or national agencyYou need several channels or a large accountJunior account managers; percentage-of-spend fees
Remote or offshore teamYou want a published, lower fee and are fine with video callsTime zone gaps; ask for response times in writing

Whichever you pick, the person managing the account matters more than the logo. Our pages on hiring a Google Ads consultant and a Google Ads specialist go deeper.

What should you ask a Canberra Google Ads agency before you sign?

Ask any Canberra Google Ads agency who owns the account, what the fee is, who does the daily work and how conversions are tracked. Get the answers in writing. Clear answers remove most of the risk of a bad hire.

  1. Will the Google Ads account be created in our name, with us as admin?
  2. What is your monthly fee, and is it flat or a percentage of spend?
  3. Is there a minimum term or a notice period?
  4. Who will manage the account day to day, and how many accounts do they run?
  5. How will you track calls, forms and offline sales from Canberra leads?
  6. Can you show a Google Ads example in our industry, even without client names?
  7. Where is your team based, and what are your response times in AEST or AEDT?

Common questions about Google Ads in Canberra

How much does a Google Ads agency cost in Canberra?

Google Ads agency fees in Canberra vary widely because few agencies publish them. Published figures we found start at $250 a month for management at Web Engine, and Zib Digital says it adds value at around $5,000 to $8,000 a month in media plus retainer combined. Hustle Marketers charges about A$857 to A$1,143 per platform per month.

What is the minimum Google Ads budget for a Canberra business?

There is no single minimum, but your budget should buy enough clicks each day to learn what works. sitecentre reports a median client ad budget of $1,000 to $3,000 a month on its Canberra page. Cost per click varies a lot between keywords, so check your own terms in Keyword Planner first.

Should I hire a Canberra-based or a Sydney-based Google Ads agency?

Hire a Canberra-based agency if in-person meetings and local contacts matter to you. Choose an interstate or remote provider if you want a wider talent pool or a lower published fee. Either way, ask for a named account manager, written response times and full ownership of the account.

Who should own the Google Ads account?

Your business should own the Google Ads account, with your own admin login. The agency gets access as a user or through its manager account. If you part ways, you remove its access and keep all the history, as shown in Google’s access guide.

How do I check whether a Canberra agency is a Google Partner?

Search for the agency in the Google Partners directory. A badge on a website is not proof on its own. Then ask which person will manage your account and what Google Ads certifications they hold.

Can I run Google Ads myself instead of hiring an agency?

Yes. Many small Canberra businesses run their own search campaigns with tight location targeting and a short keyword list. Get an audit once you spend enough that wasted clicks hurt, or when conversions stop growing. Our free audit is one option.

Is Google Ads worth it for Canberra government suppliers?

Google Ads can be worth it for government suppliers when it supports brand searches and capability pages during procurement. It does not win tenders on its own. Track enquiries by source and judge the campaign on qualified meetings, not clicks.

How we updated this guide: on 14 October 2026 we re-checked every provider on its own website, removed entries we could not verify or that no longer list Google Ads, added ACT-based agencies, replaced unsourced cost tables with published figures, and converted our USD price at the RBA rate for that day. A person fact-checked the claims before publishing.
